Shana Tova from Ameet

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, we are reminded of new beginnings and of our aspirations for the year ahead.

As you and your loved ones welcome the sweet blessings of the New Year, I hope that the festival brings you a sense of renewal.

For me, this coming year will be an important one. As the newly selected Conservative candidate for Hendon in the upcoming General Election, I am honoured to stand to represent such a wonderfully diverse community and I look forward to tackling our shared challenges together.

My strong support for the UK’s Jewish community is unwavering. As a practising Hindu, I recognise the importance of faith and the shared values that unite the Jewish community with others such as: a passion for life, creative spirit and an enduring work ethic.

I had the privilege of visiting Israel in 2015 with Conservative Friends of Israel, where I gained insight into the incredible ingenuity of the Jewish State. There, I was reminded of the necessity of strong bilateral relations between our two great countries which makes us all healthier and safer.

As Rosh Hashanah encourages us to reflect on our relationships with our friends and neighbours, let us also consider the new bonds forged by Israel and its neighbours in the form of the historic Abraham Accords. I share Israel’s hope for a true and far-reaching peace in the year to come.

Wishing all those celebrating across Hendon and Barnet Shana Tovah and a sweet new year.
